Organic Oat Bran
When it comes to a slower digesting, fiber rich source of carbohydrates to fuel the body's daily adventures, look no further than organic oat bran – the nutrient-dense outermost edible layer of the oat grain. In addition to being rich in beta-glucan (a specific type of fiber which is associated with decreased blood pressure and LDL cholesterol levels), organic oat bran also contains avenanthramide – a compound found only in oats which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory benefits.* Add this to the positive effects oats have on blood glucose levels, and one can easily see why it's often considered the "king of the grains."*
Organic Gum Arabic (Acacia)
One is only as healthy as their gut. This makes sense as it is the body's largest immune organ. Emerging research indicates that gut microbiome plays a key role in this equation. For this reason, we added organic gum Arabic (Acacia), a prebiotic which has been shown to increase concentrations of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, specific strains of bacteria which play a critical role in overall gut health.* Gum Arabic has also been shown to support fat loss/weight management as well as positively influence blood lipid levels.* Additionally, gum Arabic is noted for being gentle on the stomach and gastrointestinal (GI) tract.*
No Added Sugar!
Sugar is sugar, and its excess in the diet is unequivocally harmful to health. Whether refined or unrefined sugar — it doesn't matter. According to the FDA, experts suggest that, "For the average American, 16 percent of their total daily calories come from added sugars. The major sources are soda, energy and sports drinks, grain-based desserts, sugar-sweetened fruit drinks, dairy-based desserts, and candy." The widespread health consequences of sugar intake are so alarming, that the FDA has finalized new changes for the Nutrition Facts Label which will require the amount of added sugars to be disclosed. MI-6 does not contain added sugar.
No Artificial Colors, Flavors, or Sweeteners!
Many companies use artificial sweeteners which have numerous health concerns. One of the most common artificial sweeteners in the food and beverage industry is sucralose. This synthetic organochlorine sweetener has been shown in clinical studies to alter the microbial composition in the gastrointestinal tract, reducing beneficial bacteria. Sucralose has also been shown to negatively alter glucose and insulin levels. MI-6 is sweetened with stevia leaf extract, a natural extract that is up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar.
In addition, the food and supplement industry often uses synthetic food dyes (artificial color) to make beverages and food appear bright and bold. However, research strongly suggests an association between the ingestion of synthetic food dyes and attention deficit hyperactive disorders (ADHD). Synthetic food dyes are made from petrochemicals and include FD&C Blue #1, Blue #2, Green #3, Red #3, Red#40, Yellow #5, and Yellow #6.
